Andrew D. Hibbs, Ph.D – Chairman of the Board of Directors
Dr. Andrew Hibbs founded the Quasar Group of five companies, of which QuasarGeo is a part. Hibbs is the leading figure within the low frequency electromagnetic sensing community – both from a scientific and industrial perspective. Under his direction, the Quasar Group has developed and introduced new types of electromagnetic sensors, and sensing systems that go beyond traditional modalities.
Andy serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for QuasarGeo. With his deep background in the EM field, Andy assisted in the research and development, as well as the end-application usage of all of the EM technologies available through the Quasar group. Andy has led a number of advancements in the EM sector including SQUID-based imaging, commercial NQR explosive detection, the first free-space electric field sensor with comparable capability to a magnetic field sensor, the first system that can measure all six components of the free space electromagnetic vector, and new methods to measure ionic currents in cells and transmembrane proteins. Andy has also been the senior scientist on four R&D programs that each received over $10M in government funding.
Dr. Hibbs’ accomplishments are extensive. A few of the highlights are 1992 R&D 100 Award for SQUID-based imaging instrumentation, 1994 “Person of the Year” by Superconductor Weekly, 1995 R&D 100 Award for commercial NQR explosive detection and the 1999 SBIR Technology of the Year – Grand Winner for technologies for the detection of explosives used in landmines. Andy graduated from Cambridge University, Cambridge, UK with both a Bachelor and Master of Arts Degree in Engineering and a Ph.D in Physics.
George A. Eiskamp – Chief Executive Officer
George Eiskamp has a successful record of bringing new hi-tech products to market. As the CEO of Quasar Geophysical Technologies, George leads the organization in the commercial release of its electromagnetic sensing systems.
George’s experience leading other companies through the commercialization process provides instrumental guidance for QuasarGeo. George understands the importance of building relationships that lead to long-term partnerships. He has previous experience with technologies from RFID solutions, to hospital asset management, to license plate recognition systems and other computer vision applications. George’s specialties include structuring new product entry agreements with early adopters, corporate planning, marketing, program management, and customer-based product design, to name a few.
George’s accomplishments include the 2005 Connect’s Most Innovative New Product Award and developing license agreements with The Salk Institute and The UC San Diego Technology Transfer Office. George graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Studies from University of Oregon and Master of Pacific International Affairs Degree from University of California, San Diego with a focus on Economics and Business Management.
Lowell J. Burnett, Ph.D – Director
Dr. Lowell Burnett is the Chief Technology Officer at Quasar Federal Systems. He serves on the QuasarGeo Board of Directors and also as a scientific advisor to QuasarGeo. He brings his substantial body of work in EM to the Quasar Group.
Lowell’s accomplishments include over 175 journal articles, technical reports and conference presentations; development of advanced systems for the detection of explosives, narcotics and concealed weapons; applications technologies including aviation security, military force protection and mine detection, and the sale of his business to General Electric. He was appointed as a Presidential Fellow at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Lowell has also been honored as an “Outstanding Alumnus” from The Portland State University and The University of Wyoming. Earlier, he served at The San Diego State University as a physics professor – and subsequently was named Department Chair and Professor Emeritus. Lowell graduated from The Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics and Mathematics and a Ph.D from The University of Wyoming in Physics.
Eric Duff – Director
Eric Duff focuses on the commercial realization of technical innovation. As a Director of Quasar Geophysical Technologies, he brings both his extensive experience in Business Development and his technical training to the table.
In addition to his work with QuasarGeo, Eric’s current functions span the Quasar Group companies including serving as the CEO of Advanced Neurometrics and VP of Business Development in the other companies. He guided Quasar Geophysical in its early stages until it grew to warrant the full-time leadership of George Eiskamp.
Mr. Duff was Director of Business Development for InVision Technologies, where he was charged with leveraging the success of Fortune Magazine’s 2004 #1 Fastest Growing Company into a sustainable diversified entity. He joined QUASAR after InVision was acquired by GE Security and applies his experience with technology/commercialization partnerships to get QUASAR technologies to market. This business focus is built on 19 years experience in science and engineering, during which time he ran his own technical solutions company, and acted as chief scientist for firms in medical device development and industrial quality assurance. He has an MBA from Oxford University, and technical degrees from Harvard and UCSD.
Steve Constable Ph.D - Scientific Advisor
Dr. Steven Constable provides his extensive background in marine electromagnetic methods to QuasarGeo. He currently is the Senior Principal Investigator for The Marine EM Lab of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO).
Steve provides his broad knowledge base on the use of EM methods in marine environments to QuasarGeo in an effort to create effective technologies. He has recently focused his efforts on a project that involved the commercialization of EM for hydrocarbon exploration. He has also played a key roll in the early adoption of marine EM by industry for which The SIO received the SEG Distinguished Achievement Award in 2007. Steve is also a Professor in Residence at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
Steve’s accomplishments include three patents, 55 articles published in peer journals, 2003 G.W. Hohmann Award for “outstanding achievement in electrical/electromagnetic methods that has led to a significant improvement or discovery in gas or oil exploration. He is also a member of the American Geophysical Union, European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers, Royal Astronomical Society, American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Society of Exploration Geophysicists.
